Pandit Sarathi Chatterjee (Vocal) –
Sarathi Chatterjee is one of the foremost Hindustani Classical vocalists in India. Born in a musical family, he has continued his musical “sadhana” under the guidance of the celebrated vocalists Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra of the Benaras Gharana. Thus, Sarathi’s music now blends the elements of Benares Gharana into the Kirana Gharana “gayaki” of his original training. This has resulted in a unique musical expression in his singing.
An ‘A’ Grade artist of the All India Radio and Doordarshan & ‘Outstanding’ category musician in ICCR panel Sarathi has been awarded a junior fellowship by the Ministry Of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India for research on ‘Different Styles of Thumri’ in 1998. Sarathi had his A.I.R National prog of music in 1998 & 2011, National Prog of music at Doordarshan in 2004 & akashvani Sangeet Sammelan during 2008. He has done International tour concerts in UK, Canada, Switzerland, Finland, France, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Dubai, Muscat, Doha etc.
Pandit Rupak Kulkarni (Flute) –
As a child prodigy with music blown into his breath by his father late Pt. Malhar Rao Kulkarni, Rupak has blossomed under the finest tutelage of flute legend Padma Vibhushan Pt. HARIPRASAD CHAURASIA to become an outstanding exponent of MAIHAR GHARANA. As a first GANDA BANDH Shagird of Pt. Chaurasia since the tender age of 9, Rupak with arduous training and hard work has mastered Dhrupad, Khayal and Tantrakari styles equally well. His recital is always a rare treat combining Dhrupad and Khayal Gayaki, melodious Aalap and scintillating Tatkar (Tonguing technique used for Jhala) innovative improvisation with mesmerising Layakari, superb breath control and dexterous finger work. Awards/Achievements:“Sangeet Prakarsh” award, TOP Grade (All India Radio), nvited by prestigious Trinity College of Music, London to give lecture demonstration, concert at Asian Super Flautist Festival in Japan.
Purbayan Chatterjee (Sitar) –
Purbayan Chatterjee is an Indian sitar player and composer who lives in Kolkata, India. He is noted for amalgamating traditional Indian classical music with contemporary world music genres. Chatterjee was a recipient of the President of India Award for being the Best Instrumentalist of the country at the age of 15. He has also received the Aditya Vikram Birla Award for excellence and contributions to the field. He has been honored with the Rasoi Award by Rotary International in 1995. He has performed in London, Paris, Brussels, Singapore, Sydney and in music festivals – Bath International Music Festival, UK, International Music Symposium, Germany, World Music Festival, Chicago among others
